Gillian Keir, now Gillian McMains, was born in England and , with her parents, traveled and lived in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Gillian lived in Napa Valley for ten years and currently resides in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Gillian's paintings are mostly oil, with some acrylic and pastels. Gillian first studied her artistry in Canada at age sixteen years. She won top awards in high school and then studied for one year at Morehouse Gallery in Victoria, Canada. Gillian took a break from painting, as she worked and raised a family. Since that time, Gillian has studied at Santa Monica City College where she received high grades in art and then became a member of the Peninsula Art Association in the Bay Area of California. Thereafter, Gillian moved to Napa Valley and studied at the Junior Gallery, while also studying with Bill Parson's Gallery in Benicia, California. Gillian loves to paint native woods and animals. She has also painted images of pets for customers and had a period of visionary painting, which may only have a special meaning to Gillian. She has won first and second places at numerous fairs and countless ribbons at art shows. Gillian is currently a member of Josephine County Artist's Association, the Museum of Arts in Grants Pass, and has recently joined Southern Oregon's Society of Artists.
